Goals for August

Image
Read 3 books.   I'm doing a Goodreads  challenge to read 35 books this year and I'm three books behind so I would like to catch up.  My plan is to read the books on my Summer Reading List - Secondborn  by Amy A. Bartol, finish reading Boss Bitch  by Nicole Lapin or Strengths Finder 2.0  by Tom Rath, and either Clash of Kings  by George R. R. Martin or whatever book I get from Amazon ( Kindle First ) for the month of August. Drink more water. In the last couple weeks of July, I've actually done pretty well in drinking 64 ounces (8 cups) of water in a day.  I got a 500 mL bkr water bottle (4 bottles = 64 ounces) from my Summer FabFitFun box that has been great in motivating me and helping me track how much water I've drank today. Take a walk after dinner. I am really bad at not taking my two-year-old Golden Retriever, Kona, on walks after I get home from work.  Some of the lack of motivation is coming from the fact that it's been so hot here in

Wine Night With the Tasting Room

Image
I love wine.  For those who know me, they may even go so far to call me a wine snob - I'm okay with this.  I would even change it to a red wine snob.  I love dry reds.  The more peppery and drier the better.  The last time I reorganized my wine, the difference between reds and whites was impressive. I also love Netflix and I saw an ad on Pinterest for the "Netflix of Wine" and I just had to explore.  Turns out there is a company called Tasting Room  that sends you six mini bottles to taste and rate and then, based on your ratings, sends you a case (12 bottles) of different wines you may like for about $12 a bottle. Since the six mini bottles were only $6, I figured I could try it out.   The Tasting Room  has you compare wines and rate which one you like better. Here is my tasting... White Wines #1   2015 Le coq bleu - Cotes de Gascogne My comments The smell was very crisp with a hint of pear.  This Cotes de Gascogne a dry

Kohl's Haul

Image
Just went to Kohl's and I'm very excited for what I brought home! I got this top that was so cute on.  It has little hearts and lace at the top. These are also my first pair of grey high-waist jeggings.  I wear blue jeans a lot and wanted to get something a little different. I also have on a pair of maroon boot heels by Unisa that I got at DSW on clearance a couple months ago. Top  |   Similar Pants  |   Similar Shoes This top is so soft and comfy!  I have two others that are v-necks in the same material and I love them so much.  This one fits a bit tighter that the others but is still dressy enough to wear to work. I got these black jeans for the same reason as the grey ones - they are something different than just normal blue jeans and these look a bit nicer too. I have a pair of black and cream color block heels that I got from Charming Charlie a few months ago. Top   |   Pants   |   Similar Shoes The striped t

Summer Reading List

Image
I'm very excited that I have started reading more this summer!  When I was younger, I would get sucked in to a book or series and not be social until I was done.  I think the main reason I've started reading more is because I started doing Kindle First for Amazon Prime Members.  Basically you get to choose one book out of six options every month to read before it's released for free. Some of the books below are on my list because I started a new job this spring, others are there for fun reading. #1   Boss Bitch by Nicole Lapin Buy Boss Bitch on Amazon. Nicole Lapin is hilarious to read (if you are okay with cursing) and her ideas and suggestions are great and educational. #2   Game of Thrones  Series by George R. R. Martin Buy Game of Thrones  Series on Amazon. Season 7 comes out in just about a week and we are super excited - my brother is posting GoT memes constantly. #3   How to Be Everything:  A Guide for Those Who (Still) Don't Know

Friday Finds

Kohl's Essential Tees These tees are crazy soft and comfy while looking nice enough to wear out. Love and Own this one  and this one  in black and lavender. Rachelleea YouTube Organization and Decor Videos Love her wardrobe and decor - I love how classy her decor is (Grey + White). See more of her videos here . Homemade Macaroni and Cheese I made this recipe  for this 4th of July and it was delicious! I tweaked the recipe a bit by adding some buffalo sauce and instead of topping with Kellogg's flakes, I used Hot and Spicy Cheez-it crackers. Amy&Joey Cross-body purse I just bought this purse  from Amazon and it's bigger than it looks!   The tassels are subtle enough that it's not overwhelming. Pewter + Copper Storage Baskets I found these baskets  wandering around Target. I hung two on the wall as storage for our coffee bar. I also use a third in my closet for workout clothes.
